Priorities

As Delegate, I’m focused on improving the lives of everyday Virginians, every day.

Preventing gun violence

Preventing gun violence

As a U.S. Army veteran who conducted counterterrorism operations around the globe and served in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Korea, I spent my entire military career keeping our country safe.

As Delegate, I’ve led on common-sense gun safety reforms, working tirelessly to pass laws that require universal background checks on all gun sales, prohibit domestic abusers from possessing guns, and keep weapons of war off our streets. More needs to be done in Richmond to address senseless gun violence, and I’m proud to be a champion of common sense measures to keep our communities safe.

Protecting abortion access

Protecting abortion access

The right of every woman in our Commonwealth to make her own healthcare decisions is personal for me. After my second son was born, my wife Karen developed a heart condition. Her cardiologist told us she could die if she became pregnant again.

As Delegate, I fought to expand access to reproductive healthcare that includes cancer screenings, birth control, and safe and legal abortions. The right to safe and legal abortion is still not enshrined in Virginia’s constitution, and, as attacks expand across the South, our state is a safe haven in the region for these critical services. I’m running for re-election to expand protections around reproductive freedoms and ensure that Virginia remains a sanctuary for women seeking care.

Growing Virginia's economy

Growing Virginia’s Economy

As someone who runs a small business, I know that small businesses are the backbone of our economy.

I led the charge in Richmond to ensure that Virginia remains the best state in the country for business, while also expanding labor rights and increasing wages. I’m fighting to put more money in Virginians’ pockets — and lower the cost of living so that your hard-earned dollars go farther.

Defending our democracy

Defending our democracy

As Delegate, I’ve led on expanding access to the ballot box, moving our Commonwealth from one of the hardest states for voting into one of the easiest. In 2020, I voted to end the practice of partisan political gerrymandering in Virginia by supporting the creation of a bipartisan, citizen-led redistricting commission.

I’ve also fought to end pay-to-play politics in Richmond, standing up to the current corrupt campaign finance system. We need a system where voters choose their politicians, not special interests.
